North Karelia Biosphere Reserve - Pohjois-Karjalan biosfäärialue __________________________________________________________ "listen to you!"world listening day celebrated in north karelia july 17-18, 2014
World Listening Day events organized by North Karelian entrepreneurs are held at the botanical garden Botania, New Valamo Monastery, and Apajalahti conservation area in Rääkkylä on Friday July 18, 2014. The purposes of the World Listening Day are to raise awareness of our acoustic environments and to focus on both familiar and new environments by listening to them. This year's theme "Listen to You!" encourages people to listen to the sounds they themselves create in their environment.
The events are organized in cooperation with the "Silence and Listening as Resources of Tourism Expertise in North Karelia" project at the University of Eastern Finland. Read more about the World Listening Day events (in Finnish) or the project.
